The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has declared Asante Kotoko the winners of the Champions League tie against FC Nouadhibou after canceling the second leg encounter.

The Ghana Premier League record holders are playing in the elite inter-club competition of CAF this season and were drawn against the side from Mauritanian in the preliminary stages.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Asante Kotoko returned home to host the opponent for the second leg on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Prior to kick-off, FC Nouadhibou had problems with the results of the Coronavirus test for their players. In what ended up delaying the match, CAF subsequently announced that the game has been postponed to Sunday.

Today, the same issues have popped up again, forcing CAF to cancel the reverse fixture to award Asante Kotoko the win.

According to sources, the Porcupine Warriors will now go into the next phase of the CAF Champions League and close to sealing qualification to the group stage of the competition.
