Head coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kjetil Zachariassen has stressed that the aim of his team ahead of their second leg tie with Nigerian side Kano Pillars is to win at all cost to ensure they progress into the second round of the preliminary stage.

The two West African clubs played the first leg of the encounter last weekend in a pulsating encounter that ended 3-2 in favour of the Kano-based club. Though the Porcupine Warriors had a second-half 2-1 lead in their grasp, they later conceded two goals and ended up returning home with the narrow defeat.

Ahead of the second leg tie, Kjetil Zachariassen has revealed that his team will approach the match will the sole aim of beating their Nigeria opponent at the end of 90 minutes.

“We received three goals which is a little too much for us. We had trained hard not to receive goals but a little lack of concentration there but we scored two nice goals. We could have even scored more”.

“But in the end am going to meet them again at the Baba Yara and it is going to be a different game. We always go to try to win every match we participate in. That is our goal no matter who we play and whatever competition”, the Norwegian tactician said.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is expected to host the second leg of the tie on Friday, August 23, 2019.
