The Porcupine Warriors broke an 11-year jinx in Kumasi as they reached the group stage of the competition at the expense of Coton Sport, who reached the Caf Champions League final in 2008.

The 44-year gaffer lavished praises at his players for their impressive performance and commended them for adhering to his tactics.

"We went to Coton Sport with an idea of trying to win the match before the second leg because we have seen them in their previous match and we thought it wise to go there and win," he said in a post-match interview.

"The idea we had worked for us. The boys were fantastic, unbelievable, especially in the first half and today it was for us to continue with the management. We needed to keep the ball than we did in Cameroon".

"The first half was good, the second half was good. It was an impressive performance," he added.

The Reds completed the double over the Cameroonian Champions to book a place in the group stages of the competition for the first time since 2008.
