Zamalek coach Jose Gomez has eulogized Dreams FC for their impressive performance in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The Ghana FA Cup holders delivered an outstanding performance in their maiden participation in Africa, reaching the semifinals of the competition.

The Still Believe lads Confederation Cup campaign came to an end on Sunday after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Zamalek in the semifinals second leg played at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Zamalek progressed 3-0 on aggregate after pulsating goalless draw in the first leg played at the Cairo International Stadium.

Goals from Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola and Mostafa Shalaby were enough for the 2019 Champions to secure an important victory in Kumasi.

Despite the victory, Gomez applauded Dreams FC for their performance in the competition.

"Dreams played a good match and attacked well, and Mohamed Awad blocked several chances, in addition to the defense that prevented more than one chance.

Before travelling to Ghana, Zamalek were stunned in Cairo after Dreams held them to a goalless draw in the first leg.

"Zamalek did not take advantage of the opportunities it had in the first leg, and we succeeded in dealing with the return match well," admitted Gomez.

"We were the best and deserved to win the match and qualify for the final."
