Ghana’s representative for the next edition of the CAF Confederations Cup, Obuasi Ashanti Gold has been drawn against Equatorial Guinea club Akonangui FC in the preliminary stage.

The Miners booked a place in the second tier of CAF’S inter-club competition when they beat Nzema Kotoko in the finals of the tier 2 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition last month.

With the continental competition set to start next month, the officially draw held earlier today has paired Ashanti Gold with Akonangui FC in the first round.

The Ghana Premier League side will travel to Equatorial Guinea for the first leg on the weekend August 9-11 before returning home for the second leg on the weekend of August 23-25.

The Miners have already started preparations for the assignment ahead and will be hoping to come out victorious at the end of the two legs to ensure they progress into the next round.
