CAF Women’s Champions League: Hasaacas Ladies coach Basigi believes postponement 'blessing in disguise'

Published on: 14 July 2021

Hasaacas Ladies head coach, Yussif Basigi claims the postponement of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers is a 'blessing in disguise.

The team has been preparing at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence Prampram ahead of the trip to Cote D’Ivoire for the WAFU Zone B Women’s Championship.

However, the qualifiers have been moved to July 24 and will end on August 5, 2021.

“The change of date for me is a blessing in disguise because some of my players have some knocks that we are working on so right now that we have a week more, they will be fit for the competition so yes it is a blessing in disguise for me, Basigi told Happy FM.

“ I have monitored our first opponent (River Angels). They are not a bad side but trust Hasaacas Ladies because we are equally good so they won’t find it easy with us the same way we won’t find it easy with them because they are a good side.”

“For me, every team is a good team. I learnt we have about three Ghanaians in the Niger team so it means they are doing well. Personally, I am ready for every team. I won’t change my approach because any approach I use against River Angels will be the same that I will use throughout.”

“Our automatic goal is to qualify for the main competition in Egypt. At the end of the competition, it will be Hasaacas Ladies and another club that will qualify.

The Ghanaian champions, who have been placed in Group B will also take on AS Police de Niamey from Niger in the other qualifier.

The first two teams from each group will progress to the semi-final of the competition.
