Carlo Ancelotti Doesn't Know if Arsene Wenger Can Survive as Arsenal Manager

Published on: 07 March 2017

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti was left astounded as to how easily his side found the second half of their 10-2 aggregate drubbing of Arsenal at the Emirates in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal collapsed in the second half after leading one 1-0 at the break and appeared to be the dominant side. But the Bavarian side found their way out of second gear to put the Londoners to the sword in humiliating fashion.

Speaking to the gathered media and via quotes gathered onGoal.com, Ancelotti gave his concise views on the events that had just unfolded:"The game was very difficult until the penalty. We were very open."

Excellent work from my team!! Now let's face the quarter-finals!! @FCBayern #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/dzryOnrIFy

"(It is) strange to win (10-2 on agg). It was more difficult than it seemed."

"The result doesn't reflect what happened.Arsenal played very well with 10 men."

The Italian, who has previously managed Chelsea and AC Milan amongst other European giants, was asked to comment on Arsene Wenger's status as Arsenal manager going forward, but he responded in a respectfully coy and reserved manner, simply stating: "I don't know."

"I am not the owner of Arsenal but he is more experienced than me, can handle pressure."

Bayern now advance to the quarter-finals of this year's competition and will learn their opponents when the draw takes place on March 17th at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. In the Bundesliga, Bayern currently lead the chasingpack by seven points. They play Eintracht at the Allianz Arena on SaturdayMarch 11th in their next domestic fixture.
