Cascarino: Bournemouth\'s Wilson can make England\'s Russia squad

Tony Cascarino has said that Bournemouth's Callum Wilson has an outside chance of making the England squad for the 2018 World Cup.

The 25-year-old Wilson was phenomenal this weekend as he scored a hat-rick for his side to lead them to a 4-0 victory over Huddersfield.

Wilson was sidelined for nine months after suffering serious knee ligament damage in January.

Cascarino believes that he does stand a charge of making Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2018 World Cup if he can maintain fitness and deliver a consistent run of performances for Bournemouth.

"He's got fantastic quick feet and if you give him a chance he will convert," he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast.

"He's got close to a one in two goal ratio for Bournemouth, which is really good.

"Jermain Defoe coming to Bournemouth, being an England player and someone who has played at the top will help Calum.

"The problem he has is will he stay clear of injury? Because he is the one dark horse that I really believe can make the England [World Cup] squad.

"If he gets a run of games Calum will score goals."
