Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey, has disclosed that Catch Them Young referees will continue to officiate in the association’s Youth Championships.

The KGL U17 Regional Championship and the recently launched Elite U15 Academy Competition are the current youth tournaments through which the GFA aims to groom these young referees.

Speaking at the launch of the 4th Edition of the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on Wednesday at the GFA headquarters, Heart of Lions President Abbey highlighted the significant role played by the KGL Foundation in youth development over the past four years on behalf of the President of the Ghana Football Association.

“In keeping with the policy of the association to continuously encourage young talents, the Championships will be officiated by young referees selected from GFA's flagship Catch Them Young refereeing policy.

“This initiative has nurtured hundreds of young ambitious referees who have officiated at the second tier level of Ghana football and we have no doubt that they will excel during these championships.

“Thanks to the KGL Foundation sponsorship, each participating team will receive 50 footballs, we just saw samples of the balls, two sets of cones, which we showed you earlier, two sets of bibs and two sets of match dresses.”
