Celtic Boss Brendan Rogers will send scout to Belgrade on Thursday to watch Ghana international Richmond Boakye in the Europa League when Red Star Belgrade host Arsenal in a Group H fixture.

Rogers is looking for a striker to sign in the January winter transfer window and according to HITC he has already been briefed about the Ghanaian hit-man who has netted 32 goals in 2017.

The former Swansea and Liverpool boss is keen on Boakye and has asked three of his scouts to go to Serbia and watch him in the crunch Europa League encounter.

Boakye only joined Partizan on a permanent basis in the summer after an impressive loan spell in the second half of 2016/17. The 6ft 1ins forward moved to Serbia on a free after his parent club, Serie B side Latina, went bankrupt and were forced to start again in the regional leagues.

The striker has had eight different clubs since making his senior debut with Genoa in 2010 but has found a home in Belgrade. He scored 16 goals in just 19 games in the second half of last season and has a further 11 in 17 in 2017/18.

German side Borrussia Monchengladbach are also said to be interested in him.
