Everton centre-back Ashley Williams has revealed the passion of the club's supporters is one of the things he loves mostabout his new club.

Williams had become a stalwart and icon at previous club Swansea City, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League and even winning the League Cup in 2013. After an impressive campaign with Wales at the Euros, Williams decided it was time for a change and opted for a move to Everton.

Everton have started the season reasonably well, with the club currently in seventh place and Williams has stated the identity of the club is what attracted him to Merseyside.

"Swansea is a family club and what I've loved since coming here is that Everton is rooted in family and community, too," Williams told Everton'sofficial club website.

"The passion that supporters have for the Club is incredible and you see it and feel it when Goodison is packed for every game and when the away ends are bursting at places like The Etihad and everywhere we go, no matter the game, no matter the distance."

Williams also stated the club are aiming for European football this season, and that he is hoping to make Everton fans proud of the team, just like Wales fans were in the summer after the nation made the semi-finals of the Euros.

"It gives players a real impetus “ certainly, it's done that for me. When you come to a new club there's a real desire to impress everyone and you have to get your head down and start again from scratch. I've enjoyed that challenge.I've enjoyed working hard in training and focussing on the challenge we've set ourselves as a team and that is competing for European football.

"Obviously, I had the experience of getting to the semi-finals of the Euros with Wales in the summer and that was immense for the whole of the country, the pride that generated in people. That's the kind of thing we want to do here at Everton.
