In an interview with Kolog Bonaventure ahead of the opening weekend of the upcoming season, he has urged all officials to avoid any form of malpractice that can lead to the tarnishing of the image of football in the country.

He said, “The new administration is bent on changing the face of refereeing in Ghana to ignite the love of football, we're encouraging all match officials and club administrators to do their best of best to bring sanity to the game”.

Shaibu Salifu Zida added, “The Referees Appointment committee will not leave room for abysmal performance and below standard officiating, all must be up and doing”.

The experienced football administrator has also called on club owners to desist from influencing members of the Referees appointment committee to appoint officials of their interest ahead of games.

He insists, “Nobody will be allowed to misbehave this time around, this should be a warning to all the clubs to allow the committee to function its duties independently with no interference”.

All matchday 1 games of the Ghana Premier League have been scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2019.
