Wolves players celebrate Matt Doherty's goal vs Ipswich Getty

Matt Doherty scored the only goal as Wolves extended their lead at the top of the Championship to 12 points with a 1-0 victory at Ipswich.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side suffered a shock home defeat by Nottingham Forest last weekend but bounced back to record their first win in five games in all competitions.

Doherty headed the leaders in front after 15 minutes from Barry Douglas' cross and that proved to be enough against an Ipswich team with only one victory from their previous six matches.

Bristol City shrugged off Nathan Baker's first-half red card to earn a 2-0 win over QPR and move up to fourth.

The Robins were without a victory in four Championship games and were up against it when centre-back Baker was sent off for a challenge on Josh Scowen just after the half-hour.

But Famara Diedhiou put the 10 men in front in first-half stoppage time and Joe Bryan's finish midway through the second half secured three much-needed points.

Fulham continued their excellent form with a 3-1 comeback win at 10-man Barnsley.

The Reds took the lead after 31 minutes through Liam Lindsay's contentious goal but lost Dimitri Cavare to a second yellow card on the stroke of half-time. That proved to be the turning point as Ryan Sessegnon equalised just after the restart and added a second deep into stoppage time minutes after Kevin McDonald had broken Barnsley's resistance.

The victory stretched Fulham's unbeaten run to seven games and moved Slavisa Jokanovic's side into the top six.

Brentford missed the chance to make ground on the playoffs after losing 1-0 at home to Norwich.

James Maddison's stunning strike put the visitors ahead after only five minutes, and the Bees were unable to respond as they dropped a place to 10th.
