Championship Side Preston Eye Loan Deal for Liverpool Youngster Connor Randall

Championship outfit Preston North End are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool youngster Connor Randall on a loan deal ahead of the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail.

It is understood the Championship strugglers have contacted the Reds to determine whether they would be open to letting the 20-year-old leave Anfield on a permanent or temporary basis. Reports suggest Jurgen Klopp is willing to allow Randall to go out on loan to gain competitive first-team action.

The defender is up against Nathaniel Clyne for the right-back berth but the former Crystal Palace right-back's consistent performances for Klopp means it is unlikely the youngster would get the first-team action he needs to develop.

The versatile 20-year-old, who can play in midfield as well as in defence, made seven first-team appearances last season for the Reds but will likely get more opportunities in a Preston team that are currently under-performing.

Their 1-0 defeat against Ipswich Town on Saturday leaves them second from bottom in the Championship relegation zone after just five matches played.

Liverpool's start to their league campaign, though, has been mixed after a 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Saturday left them with four points from a possible nine.

After bemoaning his side's performance in front of goal at White Hart Lane, Klopp insisted his Liverpool side would use the result as the foundation for the remainder of their season.

"It is an early moment in the season and we have not had the easiest start, so for this it's OK," the former Borussia Dortmund boss said. " Sitting here with four points after three games is not what I wanted but this is our base and we will build on this base."
