The Public Relations Officer of Great Olympics, Saint Osei has defended the decision to appoint a new trained in the middle of the season, saying it is not the reason for their struggle.

Veteran trainer, Annor Walker was in charge of the team until he joined debutants, FC Samartex before the start of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.

Assistant, Yaw Preko was elevated to the substantive role but was far from impressive leading to his sack.

Former Karela United coach, Bismark-Kobbie Mensah was named in place of Yaw Preko but performances have not been convincing either.

With 35 points from 29 games and now sit on 17th on the league of, Osei believes they will soon come out of the challenges.

“Those who are saying that are saying that on a wrong footing, how many coaches have we changed?" he told Accra-based Radio Gold.

“Before the season started, the coach that was with, he rather left then we promoted his assistant to take up the substantive position.

“In the course of play, we were not satisfied with his performance and we only changed him.

“So I don’t think that the assertion that anybody is making is anything to go by," he added.

Great Olympics will take on bottom-placed Kotoku Royals in the matchday 30 games at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
