Charlie Adam is convinced by the quality of Stoke City teammate Harry Souttar.
Adam, speaking to the Daily Record, would love to see giant defender Souttar reach his potential after arriving from Dundee United last season.
"We've got a young Scottish player at Stoke in Harry Souttar," said Adam. "He has real potential and could go on to play in our first team.
"He's got the size, he's quick and he wants to learn. He has the attributes to play for us in the Premier League.
"But these boys need an opportunity and that's where it's difficult.
"Even at a club like Stoke we can afford to go and spend £10million on a player, so it's hard to get them in.
"Unless they're at that pinnacle and good enough to go straight in, it's difficult to get a game for a Premier League club. I heard Arsene Wenger say that from the age of 17 to 23 do you take the risk with them?
"A player of that age will make mistakes as he's learning, whereas a player aged 25 to 30 will make fewer mistakes and probably get you more points. So do you go with him instead?
"It's a hard decision for managers. To get into a Premier League first team now as a young player you have to be a little bit different."
