Chelsea captain John Terry has launched a new virtual reality training programme, which will allow aspiring footballers the chance to experience more immersive training sessions.

According tothe Daily Mail, videos will be added to the VR football academy every six weeks, with the app currently available onlyon Android phones.

Terry expressed his belief that the move into VR is an innovative idea, and one which could become increasingly popular in the future.

He said:"Virtual Reality is without doubt fast becoming the future and the academy gives users the opportunity to experience and learn the skills required to make it as a professional sportsperson, both mentally and physically.

"It also gives a behind the scenes insight into my own life and career experiences. It is the first of its kind and this is just the beginning."

A promotional video for the programme described it as "an array of exclusive virtual reality experiences, tailored specifically to enhance and support your progression", as well as "unprecedented access to John's lifestyle, career, top tips and coaching techniques".

The move into technology may well signal that Terry's time as a player is coming towards its end, although his manager Antonio Conte recently praised the club captain's contributions this season.

"John is our captain," he said. "I think he's doing a great job when he plays. Now that he is not playing he is helping me a lot in the changing room to send the right message to the players."
