Chelsea's official Instagram page has suggested that Frank Lampard could be set to return to Stamford Bridge in the near future, as speculation has intensified about the 38-year-old's next move.
Lampard has recently announced that he will be leaving his current team, New York City, at the end of the year, although he has yet to reveal whether he will retire or continue playing for a new club.

The midfielder is Chelsea's all time leading goalscorer and a possible return to the Blues would be warmly received by theStamford Bridge faithful. It is highly unlikely that Lampard would be offered a contract to play for the club, but a potential role as a coach or ambassador is considered a possible option.
Chelsea have previouslystated they would welcome Lampard back to the club, and the former England international has hinted he may consider a career in coaching, when he does eventually hang his boots up.
And the possibility of a potential reunion appears an option, after Chelsea's official Instagram account posted a less than cryptic comment telling fans to"Hang in there!",in response toa fan page picture (above)with the caption: ""patiently waiting...the #return".
Whilst both parties remain coy about Lampard's return, this is the biggest indication yet that the midfielder may have an offer from his former side on the table in the coming months.
As Chelsea fans eagerly await a decision from their hero, Lampard has offered his thanks to all of those concerned with New York City.
Speaking to the official NYCFC website, the Englishman said: "As my time at NYCFC comes to an end, I would like to thank so many people for the kindness and support that they have shown me over the last two years.
"My teammates have been a pleasure to play alongside. The amazing fans have given me incredible support and backing. I have very much enjoyed my time, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to play for such a great club and in such an incredible city."
