Chelsea legend Terry misses out on BT role due to Ferdinand presence

Chelsea legend John Terry has been snubbed for a role with BT Sport this season due to the presence of Rio Ferdinand.

The Times reports the Aston Villa captain was charged with racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton by The FA in 2012.

BT Sport wanted Terry, 36, to feature as a special guest on its Champions League coverage this season following his move to Aston Villa.

But the broadcast giants pulled the plug on the idea due to concerns Manchester United legend Ferdinand, 38, would refuse to work alongside his former England team-mate.

The former defender landed a job as a pundit on BT Sport in 2013.
