Chelsea Reportedly Told to Stump Up Staggering £70m Fee for In-Demand Borussia Dortmund Ace

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly told Chelsea it will cost them an extraordinary £70m fee to sign in-demand forward Marco Reus.

TheDaily Express has claimed that the Bundesliga club are holding out for a mammoth amount of cash if they are to part with the 27-year-old after the Premier League leaders allegedly enquired about Reus' availability.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, though, will have a fight on his hands to land the German international if reports of his interest are true, with fellow English giants Arsenal and Liverpool also believed to be monitoring Reus' situation at the Westfalenstadion.

Reus has been in terrific form for Dortmund ever since he returned from a lengthy pelvic injury lay-off, and has bagged six goals and seven assists in just 15 appearances following his return to the first-team fold last November.

His haul of 82 goals and 60 assists in 180 games in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel's side has alerted many of Europe's leading clubs in the past, but the forward's tendency to suffer injuries on a regular basis have so far led to no reported official bids for his services.

Reus has had 11 spells on the treatment table since August 2015 alone, and the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach star is set for another spell out of action - around a month's worth of football - after limping off in the 6-2 drubbing of Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday with a muscle fibre injury.

His propensity to pick up knocks and bruises may cause alarm for Chelsea's board, who would be against forking out a substantial transfer fee for the injury-prone player.

Conte already boasts the likes of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Pedro as three potent attacking options at Stamford Bridge, while Michy Batshuayi and Willian have struggled for regular game time under the Italian due to the impressive displays from the former trio.

That has not stopped ex-Juventus and Italy boss from making Reus an alleged top transfer target once the current season draws to a close, though it remains to be seen whether the 47-year-old can convince the Blues' hierarchy that Reus would prove to be a more-than-decent investment if they opted to sign him.
