Chelsea Star on Verge of Real Madrid Move After Clubs Hold Successful Secret Talks

Published on: 23 February 2017

Chelsea star Eden Hazard is on the verge of agreeing a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to Spanish publicationDiario Gol.

The report claims Hazard is a player highly sought after by Real Madrid, who are also plotting moves for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. The Belgium international has long been linked with a move to the Spanish giants and it appears the transfer is now closer than ever.

There have been talks taking place between Real and Chelsea regarding a potential move for Hazard, and it is not known whether Blues manager Antonio Conte is prominent in the club's business dealings regarding transfers as they are mainly taken care of bydirector of football Michael Emenalo.

Although no figures are disclosed, the offer would likely lie in the region similar to the fee Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer, given Hazard's exceptional form during Chelsea's Premier League title challenge this season.

The 25-year-old has 10 goals and three assists in 24 Premier League appearances for the Stamford Bridge club, and his performances this season after last campaign's innocuous showings have convinced Real manager Zinedine Zidane to go ahead with the deal and add Hazard to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale as options going forward.

Karim Benzema's time at the Bernabeu is said to be coming to an end, with the Frenchman currently experiencing a frustrating season in front of goal, and Hazard could be the player brought in to replace the striker.
