Chelsea Targeting Napoli Defender Kalidou Koulibaly to Replace Captain John Terry

Chelsea are targeting Napoli centre-backKalidou Koulibaly as a potential replacement for captain John Terry, according to theDaily Star.

Antonio Conte has reportedly singled out the Senegal international as his transfer priority this summer.

The 25-year-old defender has impressed for Napoli this season, earning the nickname 'The Wall' during his time with the Italian club.

Koulibaly is under contract at Napoli until 2021, and has established himself as one of Europe's most sought after centre-backs this campaign.

Chelsea are believed to be looking for a defender to replace 36-year-old Terry, who has been regularly linked with moves to the USA and China as he approaches the end of his career.

The former England captain has featured only ten times in all competitions this season, with just four starts in the Premier League.

Conte has used a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill and David Luiz since a 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in September. Only Tottenham have a better defensive record than Chelsea's 19 conceded in 26 games.

Terry has claimed to be hopeful of remaining with Chelsea beyond the end of this season, although if he was to leave, the club would need to find a replacement.

Koulibaly is likely to carry an asking price of up to £60m, however, and it remains to be seen whether that could deter Chelsea.
