Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic is set to end his nine-year spell at Chelsea with a move to Zenit St Petersburg already agreed upon on the final day of the January transfers window.
The 32-year old joined the London club in 2008 from Lokomotiv Moscow, since then the Serbian has made 376 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 34 goals for the Blues.
Since the arrival of Antonio Conte, the veteran Chelsea defender has fallen out of the starting XI and was given the okay to leave Stamford Bridge.
As reported in theDaily Star, Ivanovic has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal with Zenit and is set to return to the Russian Premier League on Tuesday.
Chelsea has also allowed the defender to leave on a free transfer as his contract was due to run out at the end of the season.
Reports are saying that the defender has already ventured to Russia to complete the deal today despite the Russian transfer window ending on the 24th of February. This is to ensure that he is registered and eligible to feature for Zenit St Petersburg in the Europa League.
Ivanovic leaves Chelsea having won the Premier League twice, three FA Cups, one League Cup, one FA Community Shield, one Champions League and one Europa League. As he heads into the latter stages of his career, the defender will be remembered for his contributions to Chelsea's success as he leaves Stamford Bridge.
Zenit currently sits second in the Russian Premier League and are looking to bolster their squad to keep the pressure on leaders Spartak Moscow who are five points clear at the top of the league.
