In a display of appreciation for their dedication Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Opare of the Republic of Ghana hosted a special reception at the Jubilee House for the officials of the Black Queens on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

The event was a gesture of recognition for the remarkable performance exhibited by the Black Queens during the Olympic Games third-round qualifiers against Zambia. Despite an intense battle that ended in a 3-3 draw in Ndola on Wednesday, Ghana was unable to secure a place in the fourth and final round of qualifiers, having faced a 1-0 defeat against the Copper Queens in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Leading the delegation of the Black Queens officials was Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, Chairperson of the Management Committee and Executive Council Member. Accompanying her were key figures including Nora Häuptle, the head coach of the Black Queens, and Team Manager Hannah Asare.

Member of Parliament for Tano North, Hon. Freda Prempeh and Jamaldeen Alhassan, Personal Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports were also in attendance.

The Chief of Staff lauded the efforts of the team and urged them to keep pushing for honors in the rebuilding process. She also rewarded the teams’ effort with an unspecified financial commitment and promised to do more as the team prepares for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Chief of Staff further pledged her utmost support to the development of Women's football and the Women's national teams.
