‘Chris Hughton can change things for Ghana within short period’ – John Paintsil

Former Ghana defender John Paintsil believes Chris Hughton has enough experience to change things for the Black Stars in a short time.

The Ghana Football Association confirmed appointing the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss as the new Ghana coach on Sunday to succeed the departed Otto Addo.

Paintsil is convinced the 64-year-old is competent enough to forge his own path as coach of the four-time African champions after serving as technical advisor for the last 12 months.

“Chris Hughton has been at development sides and he has the knowledge and experience to change things within a short period,” he told Mining City Radio.

“So, for me, his input in the national team and having the ultimate power to lead the team is very good for the nation and the national team.

“What he needs to do is to have someone like Kwasi Appiah I mentioned.

“When Chris Hughton get Kwesi Appiah in his team, they can even win the Nations Cup back-to-back because, him having that experience, and Kwesi Appiah also having that experience and also knowing the culture of the game, I think that will be all.”
