Chris Hughton cannot be manipulated at Black Stars – Yaw Acheampong

Former Ghana international Yaw Acheampong is undoubtedly confident Chris Hughton can take decisions on his own as Black Stars coach.

The Ghana FA announced the former Newcastle United and Brighton manager as the new coach of the national team on Sunday.

He replaces Otto Addo who resigned after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

A chunk of Ghanaians has raised concerns about interference at the Black Stars following the appointment of the former Premier League coach but Yaw Acheampong thinks otherwise.

In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Elmina Sharks and Eleven Wonders coach was of the opinion Hughton cannot be manipulated at Black Stars looking at his level in coaching.

“I don’t think Hughton can be manipulated looking at his level in coaching. He’s also got some experience with the national team because he served as the technical advisor at the World Cup so he might put a lot of things down before his appointment so let see how it goes” he said.

Hughton worked with the national team as technical advisor during the World Cup playoff against Nigeria and was part of the team at the tournament in Qatar.

The former Brighton boss first assignment will be the AFCON 2023 qualifiers when Ghana takes on Angola next month.
