Chris Hughton has desire to work for Ghana – Oduro Sarfo

Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, says the newly appointed Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton, has a desire to work for Ghana.

He said this was clear after the GFA Executive Council had conversations with him before appointing him as the Black Stars technical advisor ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

He said appointing the former Brighton coach as technical director was a good opportunity to study him before finally giving him the job in February this year.

“The man was interested. We had the opportunity to talk to him; about three people spoke to him one-on-one, and we saw that he had the desire to work for Ghana,” said Joy Sports.

"Then we said ok, we want to make you the technical advisor to be with the team so that we can monitor you from there, and then we took pains. For instance, I never knew anything about Chris Hughton till he came here.

"We started reading about him, and after the competition, we knew that Otto Addo, even if he had won the World Cup, wouldn’t have stayed because he has a contract with Dortmund and he was going to respect that contract, so he would go.”

Chris Hughton will be unveiled as the new Black Stars head coach on Monday in Kumasi ahead of the beginning of his tenure against Angola.
