Chris Hughton has plans for home-based players – Bibiani Goldstars coach Michael Osei

Bibiani Goldstars coach Michael Osei has said that judging from the multiple times Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has visited local league centres clearly indicates he has better plans for the local players.

The Premier League manager took over as Black Stars coach in February, with George Boateng and Didi Dramani serving as assistants.

Hughton is off to a flying start, winning one and drawing one in his first two games as coach of the national team.

The former Brighton boss led the Black Stars to defeat Angola in Kumasi in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers before sharing spoils in the reverse fixture in Luanda.

Whiles praising Hughton for watching the Ghana Premier League, the Black Meteors assistant coach has urged Ghanaians to give Hughton the necessary support to succeed.

“You can see he (Chris Hughton) is a coach who will get time for our league. He won’t relax and wait for the 11th hour to come and coach the team and leave. He has started well, watching Ghana Premier League games and I think it will motivate the young ones playing in the local scene. Definitely, you can see he has something for the local guys and I think the players too will do their best” he told Koforidua-based Bryt FM in an interview.

“He is a fair person; I think he will include every player provided you are on form to play. So, I think Hughton watching the league will help. We should give him the necessary support and wish him the best of luck to succeed”

The Black Stars will return to action next month for the final two games in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Central Africa Republic.
