Mr George Afriyie has expressed his satisfaction with how Chris Hughton has started his job as the head coach of the Black Stars.

Hughton has replaced Otto Addo on a 21-month deal as announced by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] last month.

The 64-year-old in his first two games recorded a win and a draw against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers last month.

The Black Stars defeated Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium by a lone goal before holding their Group E opponents in Luanda to a 1-1 drawn game in the return leg.

Despite the fine start, the former Brighton and Newcastle United boss has been to several Ghana Premier League venues to watch the local topflight.

According to Mr Afriyie who is a former Football Association vice president has praised the Irish-born trainer for his good start.

“Chris Hughton has started to well and I am impressed with the work he has done so far. So far so good,” he told Kumasi-based Sompa FM.

“He is yet to understand and even visit most of the league centres so let us so him.

“I haven’t said he can’t fail. Big-name coaches fail but until then, let us all support him to do this work,” he added.

Hughton first watched Great Olympics v Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium before watching the Black Meteors against Algeria in the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium. He also watched Asante Kotoko v King Faisal game at the same venue.

The former Tottenham boss has also been to Dawu to Dreams FC v Legon Cities in the MTN FA Cup quarterfinal games before flying to Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale to watch RTU v Nsoatreman FC.
