Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Dr Randy Abbey has reiterates the FA's support for head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton.

The Irish-born with Ghanaian descent has signed a 21-month deal, replacing Otto Addo, who left his role after the country's early exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Hughton has already made a good start as the head coach of the team recording a win and a draw in his first two games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers against Angola last month.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Mr Abbey assured Hughton that the FA and government would provide him with all the necessary resources for him to succeed in his role.

“I think that he is enormous information and a deeper understanding of the football eco-system of Ghana," he said.

“And of course, he has the full cooperation of the FA. We will make sure that we provide everything he wants, together with the government to make his work with us very successful.

"I am impressed so far, we have started very well and we need to continue," he added.

Hughton will hope to secure qualification for the AFCON tournament that will be hosted in Ivory Coast next year when the team clash with Madagascar and the Central African Republic in the final round of qualifiers in June.

Ghana sit top of Group E with 8 points.

The former Premier League will also be aiming to lead the team to end the country's 41 years trophy drought.
