Chris Hughton is a top manager, let’s support him to succeed – George Afriyie

Former vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has rallies for support for Black Stars new coach Chris Hughton.

The Ghana FA on Sunday appointed Chris Hughton as the head coach of the national team, replacing Otto Addo who resigned after the World Cup.

Hughton will be assisted by Didi Dramani and George Boateng who served under Otto Addo during his reign.

In an interview with Ghana Sports Online, the former Ghana FA Presidential candidate commended the FA for appointing the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager to lead the Black Stars.

He has therefore called on Ghanaians to support Hughton in order for him to succeed with the four-time African champions.

“Let’s all support him to succeed,” he said.

“His appointment is long overdue. Because some of us believe that he should have led us to the World Cup. Looking at his pedigree, this is the same thing we did with Avram Grant. A coach of his caliber and stature is coming in to manage the players. Chris is a top-notch manager and for me, I commend the GFA for the appointment of Chris Hughton,”

Black Stars will be looking to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and many Ghanaians will be hoping that Hughton can lead the team to success by winning next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
