Chris Hughton must include out of favour players in his squad - Fatau Dauda

A former Black Stars goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has implored Chris Hughton to consider inviting players who have been shut out of the team if they fit into his style of play.

The 64-year-old has been named as the successor of Otto Addo as confirmed by the Ghana Football Association [GFA] on Sunday.

Joseph Painstil and Jeffery Schlupp have struggled to break into the senior national team in recent times despite impressive performances for their respective clubs.

With his first game scheduled for next month against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers, Dauda speaking in an interview implored the former Tottenham boss to consider including players who have been sidelined in his squad.

According to him, there’s a chance that these players may find their way back into the national team if they are available for selection.

“He [Chris Hughton] is the new coach, he knows his philosophy and his style of play and if those players will fit into his team, why not invite them,” the former Legon Cities goalkeeper told Citi Sports.

“If the players have not officially retired from the national team and they fit into his style of play, it is possible they can make a return," he added.
