GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, and his deputy in charge of national teams, Alex Asante, were present at the Kotoka International Airport to receive the body of Christian Atsu alongside the Government of Ghana and the Twasam family.

According to Prosper Harrison Addo, Atsu brought so much joy to Ghanaians through his charity activities to help the needy. He stated that the GFA will work with the government and the Twasam family to give him a proper burial.

Atsu, who played 65 times for Ghana, scoring nine goals, enjoyed a successful career at several clubs, including Everton, Chelsea, Newcastle in England, and Porto.

“We want to send our condolences to the immediate family the wife and children and indeed the entire external family. It is with great sadness that we stand here today there lies a son of Ghana who brought a lot of joy to our hearts," he said.

"Outside the field of play he contributed and touched a lot of lives with his good deeds and in the past few days we have heard so many that he did without broadcasting it. And many are sharing testimonies about how he supported and helped them,”
