Atsu, 27 replaced Spain international Ayoze Perez in the 72nd minute with the scores at 1-2.

Salomon Rondon opened the scoring with a superb free-kick on the stroke of half-time for Newcastle after an impressive start to the game.

However, Joshua King’s brace turned the game in Bournemouth's favour after the recess, sending Martin Dubravka the wrong way from the penalty spot before finishing coolly into the far corner from Dominic Solanke's pass.

Matt Ritchie's thunderous volley from DeAndre Yedlin's cross in stoppage time rescued a point for the Magpies.
