Christian Atsu is still under rubble - Hatayspor Vice President in latest interview

Hatayspor Vice President, Mustapha Özat, says Ghana winger Christian Atsu still remains under the rubble following social media reports claiming he has been found alive.

The 31-year-old was trapped in the debris after a devastating earthquake hit Turkey and Syria on Monday dawn, claiming hundreds of lives and others injured.

The Black Stars player and the Hatayspor's club sporting director are still among those an accounted for from the aftermath of the earthquake.

Özat has confirmed same in about 2:00 am Turkey time on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, Christian Atsu and our sporting director Taner Savut are still under the rubble," he said, as quoted by haberturk.com.

"A Portuguese source says about Christian Atsu, but we cannot reach him. We cannot reach anyone. We cannot reach that area. If we can reach it, the worlds will be ours anyway. We are waiting for help.

"It's the hardest place to reach. Hatay is the place that needs the most help right now. Everyone needs help in earthquake zones, but there is a great need for help in Hatay."
