Christian Atsu was a blessing for the country - Emmanuel Agyeman Badu

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu has stated that Christian Atsu blessed the country will his talent. 

Christian Atsu died in the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6 killing about 4,500 people.

Atsu who scored in Hatayaspor’s game against Kasimpasa few hours earlier before the earthquake struck was trapped under the rubble for 12 days before his lifeless body was retrieved.

The former Newcastle United winger's mortal remains arrived in Ghana on Sunday via Turkish Airplanes and has been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital.

"What I will say is that he was a blessing for our country if I will remember very well Kwesi Appiah brought him to the Black Stars in 2013. We were there already I went to the Black Stars around 2009 first day he was introduced how he touched the ball his movement the players were shocked," he said.

"We told ourselves we now have quality among us and we were happy. It got to a point when the coach is about to separate us to play football he like to play number 7 he used his left then cut to the middle so whoever will play 3 then we start laughing at you. Then we tell you he will not let you have any joy on the pitch,"
