The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made a heartfelt gesture towards the family of the late Christian Atsu by donating GH₵10,000 to support them during this difficult time.

Justin Kodua, the general secretary of the NPP, visited the Atsu family to offer their sympathies and deliver the donation, along with other party officials Henry Nana Boakye, the national organizer of the party, Aziz Haruna Futah, and others.

A terrible earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria on February 6 claimed the life of Christian Atsu earlier this month, with his death confirmed last Saturday.

10 of thousands of people died because of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in both countries. His remains were received on Sunday, leaving his family and friends to mourn his untimely loss.

In addition to the NPP's donation, former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, led a delegation of national team players to visit the Atsu family and offer their support.

The Ghana players included Rabiu Mohammed, Jerry Akaminko, Kwadwo Asamoah, Derek Boateng, as well as actress Lydia Forson. Also in attendance were Nii Kwadwo Appiah, uncle of Stephen Appiah and father of Jamestown Stool, and Hannah Bentil, the wife of Stephen Appiah.

The outpouring of support from both the political and sports communities shows the impact that Christian Atsu had on the people around him.
