CK Akonnor express appreciation to GFA for setting up Mali and Qatar friendly matches

Black Stars head coach, CK Akonnor has extended his profound appreciation to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for setting up the friendly matches against Mali and Qatar.

After a long delay in taking charge of his first match as the head coach for the national team, the coach finally had the chance to be in the dugout with his assistant last Friday.

In what was a friendly match against Mali, Ghana suffered a 3-0 defeat at the end of the 90 minutes. Subsequently, on Monday, Coach Akonnor guided the Black Stars to a 5-1 win against the Maroons of Qatar in a similar friendly match.

Speaking to the communications team of the GFA after the games, the coach says he is thankful to his employers for the friendlies.

“For me it as an exercise, this was my first chance of being with the team since I got the job. Because of covid, we were not able to meet. It's been a frustrating moment for me but again I am grateful to the GFA for organizing these exercises for us.

“It was very, very important going forward, and like I said, it’s giving us the idea of what we should do and what we shouldn’t do and what can be done in the near future”, Coach Akonnor said as quoted on the website of the GFA.
