Ghana head coach CK Akonnor has commended Christopher Nettey on his performance in the Sudan Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday evening.

The Asante Kotoko defender earned a late call-up to the National team after Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful pulled out of the squad.

Today, Christopher Nettey earned his debut for his national team as he was named in the Ghana starting eleven to face Sudan.

Assessing the performance of the youngster, Coach CK Akonnor says the young defender did very well.

“There are a number of positives to pick from the game. A player like Nettey played for the first time and he did well. All he needs is another chance,” the gaffer noted in a post-match interview.

On the performance of the entire team, Coach CK Akonnor says he is happy with the win.

“It wasn’t t the best of performance but I am very happy for what we have produced today.

“We kept a clean sheet and that’s the most important thing. We are expecting some players tonight who will join us for the return leg in Sudan,” coach Akonnor added.
