Akonnor succeeded Kwesi Appiah on a two-year deal earlier this year.

The country's football governing body named former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak gaffer, David Duncan as his deputy trainer.

However, Mr Asante Twum in an interview with Kumasi based Nhyira FM reiterated that they are in talks with the technical director, Bernhard Lippert whether there should be the need to appoint a second dputy coach.

"We're in conversation with Bernhard Lippert whether we need a second assistant coach for the Black Stars or not.

"Every action taken will have to be defended," he added.

Akonnor and Duncan were in the dugout for the first time in friendly games against Mali and Qatar in Turkey.

Meanwhile, the pair will play their first competitive next month in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] qualifiers doubleheader against Sudan.
