Ghana head coach, CK Akonnor is set to be sacked according to media reports.

Akonnor who was appointed as the head coach of the senior national team has come under pressure after losing two and winning two in his four matches played as the head coach of the Black Stars.

The former Asante Kotoko, Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak gaffer was appointed in January 2020 when Kurt Okraku was elected as the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Akonnor replaced Kwesi Appiah on a two-year deal.

However, after naming his final squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome, the 47-year-old has come under pressure due to some names on the list.

There was some disagreement when Akonnor first released his squad in March 2020 against Sudan which was postponed following the outbreak of Covid-19.

It is also believed that the Ghana Football Association hierarchy are forcing some players on the gaffer which he does not want in his team.

A report by Joy Sports journalist, Adamu Muftawu indicates that Akonnor is facing a sack.

It is unknown if he will be sacked before of after the Afcon that will be hosted in Cameroon.

It is believed that Akonnor is having a rocky relationship with some Black Stars management members and some Executive Council members.

Akonnor's contract ends in 2022 January. He is assisted by David Duncan.
