Former Ghana international, Kofi Amponsah has revealed that he is not surprised CK Akonnor has been appointed as the new head coach for the Black Stars while citing that he is confident he can deliver.

The former Black Stars captain was named as the new head of the technical team of the national team in January this year to replace coach James Kwesi Appiah whose contract with the country's football association had expired.

According to Kofi Amponsah, he earlier predicted that CK Akonnor will get the job and hence it did not surprise him when he heard the news.

"I was not surprised when he C.K Akunnor was appointed to coach the Black Stars. I remember I was once telling a friend in Tema that the job should be given to C.K, he will deliver", he told Ashaiman Tv.

Kofi Amponah added, "So I was not surprised at all to see him there. He has a passion for the game. He has the strength, he can do the job, let's give him time and the support".

Amponsah, 42, spent most of his playing days in Greece where he played for giants PAOK, AEK Athens, as well as Olympiacos.
