Claudio Ranieri 'Positive' About Leicester's Spirit Despite Another Away Defeat

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri was happy with the spirit of his team, despite another away defeat, after the Premier League champions lost 2-1 to Watford after two early Hornets goals saw the Foxes yet to win away from home in the league this season.


The 2015-2016 Manager-of-the-Year, said his side reacted well to the two goals, but could not create enough to get that equalising goal:"We reacted well at 2-0, but Watford defended well with experience. We shot a lot, but we didn't create a good chance."


Riyad Mahrez scored a penalty to make the score 2-1 and the Italian feels the referee made the right decision in awarding the penalty, he said:"The referee got the penalty decisions right. Their two goals made the match. We did our best and our spirit was good."

50 - Today is Claudio Ranieri's 50th Premier League game in charge of Leicester City - he's won 26 of the previous 49 (D15 L8). Champion.

Despite sitting in 14th in the league,his side have qualified for the Champions League and are high in spirit despite the defeat.


The Italian added,"We lost, but I'm positive about the spirit. We have to concentrate more early in the games, but they were fantastic goals.Our position is not good, but with this spirit I am calm and confident with my players."


The former Chelsea boss also praised his players after the match and said the two goals made the game:"I said to my players 'well done' as they tried to do everything. At the beginning we were losing 2-0, but we got back in the match.

"Their two goals made the match. Our performance was good, the spirit was good and I am positive. When you play with this spirit, I'm positive."


Next up for Leicester is the Champions League fixture against Club Brugge, followe byMiddlesbrough at home and visit the Stadium of Light to play an in-form Sunderland side.


After playing their final Champions League group game against Porto - they have a busy Christmas schedule coming up, with Manchester City the pick of the teams they will face during the festive period.
