Claudio Ranieri Urges Leicester Stars to 'Fight' Against Relegation After 2-0 Defeat to Everton

Claudio Ranieri has called on his Leicester players 'to fight' against relegation after suffering a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Everton.

The Foxes lost their ninth league game of the season to edge precariously close to the bottom three in the league standings - a position that is a far cry from their unprecedentedleague title triumph last term.

Belgian pair Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku put Leicester to the sword after winning long punts downfield that bamboozled the Midlands side's backline and, talking to BBC Sport (via EirSport) in the aftermath of the loss, Ranieri lamented his charges' inability to deal with simple balls from deep.

He said: "It was a difficult match we knew that but we were in control, the match was equal. Suddenly from a long kick from their keeper and we reacted a little late they were able to score.

"After that we were a little nervous and they controlled the match much better. Nothing is right, nothing is easy but we must continue to work hard and be very attentive in the little detail. Only the little details make us down. We have to react as soon as possible."

Leicester were missing three key personnel due to one-match suspensions for the visit of Everton, while Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez were only fit enough to begin the clash on the bench,

Absolutely unreal. Leicester City have printed 30k Jamie Vardy masks today to protest his 3 match ban. Seriously. Masks. Printed. 30,000. pic.twitter.com/L9D5xzcMTp

Despite having to make big changes to his starting lineup, Ranieri said he believes his players need to stick together and hopes that Leicester's fans will help their team begin to record the results that will helpthe teamto haul themselves clear of danger.

He added: "We have to work and react. That is our medicine. We will try to do our best again.

"We have to stay together. We wanted to give a good present to our fans but it wasn't possible and we will try with the next match. What a year. Everything was right for the first six months and now everything is wrong. We have to fight."
