Head Coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa, has conveyed the team's determination to rewrite the narrative following last season's collapse in the WAFU Zone B qualification series.

Ampem Darkoa clinched their second consecutive title in the 2022/23 Women's Premier League after a thrilling 5-3 penalty shootout victory over rivals Hasaacas Ladies at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Doris Boaduwaa broke the deadlock for Yusif Basigi's side in the 61st minute, only to be equalized by Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah's late strike for the Techiman-based team.

Despite an extra 30 minutes of play, the deadlock remained, and the game was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout, with Ampem Darkoa emerging as the winners.

With their league triumph, the two-time Premier League champions now turn their focus towards the WAFU Zone B competition, aiming to secure a spot in the Women's CAF Champions League.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Joe Nana Adarkwa highlighted the valuable lessons they learned from last year's defeat against Nigeria's Bayelsa Queens in the final.

"Last year was a learning experience for us, and we have taken away invaluable lessons from our encounter with Bayelsa Queens," Adarkwa acknowledged.

"Having competed in the final against Hasaacas Ladies, we have identified the need to strengthen our squad. We are actively scouting for talented players, and I am confident that we will secure their services."
