Former Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars gaffer, JE Sarpong wants the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to compensate the Ghana Premier League clubs following the cancellation of teh 2019/20 football season.

On Tuesday, June 30, the Executive Committee of the Ghana FA announced the annulment of the season with no promotion and demotion.

Football came to a standstill in mid-March following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

In an interview with Akoma FM, the former Ebusua Dwarfs and Accra Great Olympics trainer believes the inactions of the football governing body in Ghana did not do much to ensure the game is brought back amid the rise of cases of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The inaction of the Ghana Football Association caused the cancellation of the league.

"They [Ghana FA] didn’t put in enough effort to get the league restarted.

"They didn’t do enough to ensure that the league bounced back.

"Clubs must make a case for compensation for all the wasted efforts and resources caused by the cancellation of the league.”

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko and Ashgold have been named to represent Ghana in next season's CAF inter-club competitions.
