Former Asante Kotoko and Karela United midfielder, Umar Bashiru has described the condition of players in the Ghana Premier League as bad and disgusting.

The 26-year-old joined Insurance FC of Ethiopia in 2022 from the Ghanaian top flight.

He has crossed the carpet to the newly promoted premier league side, Commercial Bank Ethiopia SA after his sterling display for Insurance FC.

“I don’t know what the future will be, seriously. I don’t know if I will come back and play in Ghana but to be frank, I don’t want to come back to Ghana and play again," he told Africa-foot.com.

“That’s for a fact, I would love to retire outside Ghana but not in Ghana because if you look at the player welfare in Ghana it’s very bad, the salary, the accommodation and everything is very disgusting.

“So that’s why I said that I would love to retire in Ghana but not to play again in Ghana but  like I said I don’t know what the future will be.” Umar Bashiru told Africa-foot.com.

Bashiru who once played for West Africa Football Academy scored two goals and provided five assists in 27 games across competitions for Insurance FC before switching to CBE SA.

Bashiru teamed up with former Ghana Premier League star, Caleb Amankwa who joined the club from Hearts of Oak on a free.
