In a declaration of commitment to sports development, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced today the strategic construction of sports facilities for the upcoming 2023 African Games.

Speaking fervently during the launch of the 100-day countdown to the event, Dr. Bawumia underscored the deliberate nature of this endeavor, highlighting its pivotal role in propelling the nation's sports infrastructure to new heights.

Emphasizing the government's dedication to fostering a robust sporting environment, Vice President Bawumia disclosed that six out of the ten planned sports stadia are on the verge of inauguration across various regions.

These state-of-the-art facilities stand as testament to Ghana's unwavering commitment to hosting a memorable African Games, showcasing its readiness to embrace and celebrate the continent's diverse athletic talents.

However, Dr. Bawumia did not merely focus on the construction aspect. With foresight and a keen understanding of sustainable sports development, he stressed the equal importance of maintenance.

"Indeed our government sees the development, promotion and organization of the African games as an investment for the future construction of modern sports facilities for the African games is therefore a deliberate effort towards providing additional infrastructure to propel sports development," he said.

"The construction of these magnificent multipurpose facility at Borteyman and the University of Ghana for the African Games clearly demonstrates our government's commitment to the development of much needed sports infrastructure in Ghana," he added.
