CONTROVERSY: VAR fails to review possible penalty call against Jerome Boateng

In Der Klassiker which was played on Tuesday, Bayern ran out 1-0 victors over Borussia Dortmund, extending the gap at the top of the table to seven points but the most controversial incident was a potential penalty call ignored by the VAR.

In the 57th minute of the game, Hazard received a great ball into the box to Haaland. The Norwegian striker shot at goal, but the ball was rejected at Boateng's elbow, which thus deflected to corner.

Previously, the Bayern Munich central defender had slipped, but the ball ended up hitting him in the arm seconds later, in an unnatural position and elbowing out . Although the player is turned around, it was seen how the gesture of the arm seems provoked and is not accidental.

Tobias Stieler, referee of the game quickly pointed for a corner kick. It was expected that VAR will communicate to the referee about the incident but nothing came from them.

Fans expressed their outrage at the decision on social media.

"VARyern Munich," a fan remarked.

"He fell, then knew he can't get up in time, so he stuck out his arm which he blocked the ball with. Clear pen," another football fan noted.
