Costel Pantilimon has re-joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis after signing a three-year deal.

The Romania international spent the second half of last season on loan at the City Ground but now arrives from Watford for an undisclosed fee.

Pantilimon kept four clean sheets in his 13 appearances for the club and becomes Forest's seventh summer signing, as manager Aitor Karanka seeks to mount a promotion challenge in the Sky Bet Championship next season.

"I am very happy. I really wanted to come back," Pantilimon said on the club's official Twitter feed.

"I appreciate the club and I appreciate the people who did this to make it possible."

The 31-year-old first moved to England when he joined Manchester City in 2012 and went on to win the Premier League and League Cup in 2013/14 before subsequently joining Sunderland.

Pantilimon spent two years at the Stadium of Light before moving to Vicarage Road but was limited to a back-up role behind No 1 Heurelho Gomes before a season-long loan move to Deportivo La Coruna was cut short in January.
